When In Doubt Opt For Denim

Hello Folks!

Summer is soon approaching here in Sweden, its time to change our wardrobe from Cardigans, Jackets, Jeans to dresses, shorts etc. My all time go to is Denim. When in Doubt opt for Denim is my slogan on the days when my brain stops working. 😛

Often we wonder if some patterns or colors or textures would look good on us. Denim is a piece that I always rely on and is my most favorite for all the occasions. So When in Doubt opt for denim. Denim looks good on all of us irrespective of size, shape or age. By Denim I am not referring to Jeans, there is a lot more to Denim apart from Jeans.

Denims never go out of fashion and can be worn in any season depending on how you layer it with other clothing depending on seasons. I think denims can easily be transitioned into all time clothing.

However, there are always some dos and don’ts with everything in this world, so are with Denims too 😀

DO look to yourself as your denim icon—classy, sexy and chic.

DO find the perfect fit for your body type, and make sure it’s the right length for the shape of the denim.

DO use denim shades to flatter or hide body parts.

DO accessorize to dress up your denim—when in doubt, go with a simple watch or a bracelet.

DO go bold with denim on denim for a casual, chic uniform look.

DON’T wear super-low-riding denim!

DON’T over style.

DON’T wear denim to official or corporate events.

DON’T wear denim accessories.

DON’T Wear a denim outfit that’s all the same wash.

DON’T wear shorts that are too short—unless you’re on the beach.

DON’T follow the rules 🙂

Below I am sharing the pieces of denim that I own in my wardrobe. And how I love to wear them.

Denim Maxi Dresses:

We all love the comfort of a jersey knit maxi dress and flip-flops, but the truth is that the comfy look isn’t winning any style points. Since maxi dresses are a go-to summer uniform for many women. They are not only one of the most comfortable, flattering, and forgiving items of clothing to wear, but they’re also surprisingly versatile too. When styled right, maxi dresses take on an ethereal vibe that’s beautiful for summer, both day and night. I opt for Denim Maxi dresses as they are not only chic but Comfy too. They can be accessorized too either with a jacket or some jewelry in hand or neck.

Denim Dresses:

The denim dress became quite popular after the Gucci, Stella McCarthy show´s models on fashion runways sported it a couple of years ago. Denim dresses have become a statement on their own! One of the most popular denim dress styles is the shirt dress, the shirt dress is a long version of a denim shirt and it can be fitted or slouchy. Some shirt dresses have subtle buttons on the front, much like a button up, but others are slip overs and they come in a variety of washes. What I think is the best way to wear a shirt dress is bare legs. It makes you look slimmer, chicer and gorgeous.

If that’s not your thing and you want to wear a denim shirt dress in the cooler weather, or just don’t feel comfortable in bare legs, you can always team your shirt dress with some tight fitting leggings or tights, coupled with either ankle boots or cute flats. This type of styling gives younger and girly look.

You can add a little cross body bag or tote to this outfit and layer on your jewelry and sunglasses too.

Denim Pinafore Dresses:

The pinafore denim dress or overalls/dungaree dress is super cute! With a retro feel, these little dresses have definitely come back into fashion and they are adorable. Pinafore denim dresses give a youthful and innocent edge to your outfit, making them incredibly feminine. Keeping it casual is definitely the way to go! Pinafores are preppy, quirky and sweet! One can choose to wear it with a skin-baring crop top or dress it down with a plain white T-shirt and then teamed with some wedges or sneaker.

Cotton Denim Dresses:

If you are a not a big fan of Denim Overalls, then these are best options for you where you can combination of denim with combination of some other material too.

These are cute and chic when worn. These are perfect for summer as they have a blend of cotton.

Pair them with chic contrasting shoes and you are ready to roll.

Denim Shirt:

Denim Shirts are versatile and look good with everything and anything. They can be worn with Skirts, Shorts, Bright color pants and Jeans, Denim on Denim, on chillier days’ wear with it under a Blazer.

I love to wear it in all the ways I mentioned above but the best is instead of a cardigan, wear a chambray shirt over your dress. Layer you dress with Denim Shirt to look chicer and trendy. Layering has always been a rescuer and will always be.
